I bet she thought when I suggested "Wild Blue Yonder" for their grand entrance
song that I was kidding. :) (yes, 2 of the USAF's finest got hitched today). Maureen and I met via
email with her coming upon this site while she was stationed abroad, and we corresponded that way until
she was ok with turning her future husband on me to book the event.
A week of the event change had me doing the ceremony sound support as well as performing the reception
festivities. I must say, her family has some very talented musicians among them. The prelude was played
by Christina on the church organ and the Unity Candle was a 2 part harmony vocal rendition
of "The Wedding Song" with guitar and organ instrumentals. They did a fantastic job with that.
(I wanted to give a standing ovation but darnit the ceremony was still going on! ;) )
Off to the reception site which I'd setup before I went to setup the ceremony (always a good idea but
involves alot of unpaid time, but much better than being late in my book). This was definately a
socializing crowd, not too much into dancing until the very end, but there were some great moments
(the reverse reverse garter come to mind Mr Kahn), and the comment I heard from one guest "I can't
believe he hasn't played the Electric Slide (Electric Boogie)". I never play that tripe unless it's
requested and not on the do not play list. There is just way too much good music out there
for people to dance to without having to deal with that. The bubble dance and the 70 person group hug was fun!
Best of luck Maureen and Karl, it was a pleasure crossing paths with you and being there for
your wedding. I wish you a long and happy life together. May the USAF Join-Spouse Gods be good to you.
(sidenote - Leo, Pat didn't tell me to play that song to irk you, it was Dave) hahaha!
